Quick Change Tool Posts
We offer an array of quick change tool posts for small lathes. You can choose
from steel or aluminum construction, in a range of sizes. Notice that in some cases
the tool holders interchange between brands.
The compatibility list shows which tool posts are available for several different
lathes. The specifications list provides details about each quick change tool post
set. Note that all these tool posts fit many more lathes than the ones in the list.
If you lathe is not listed, look at how your tool post is mounted and find something
similar.
The compatibility list provides details of the tool post mounting. Even if your
lathe is not listed, you can still figure out which QCTP will work on your lathe.
For example, if your tool post mounts with an M8 bolt or stud, you can use any QCTP
listed for the Prazi D400 lathe.
The Hobby and Phase II Micro quick change tool post sets come with both M10 and
M8 mounting bolts plus a steel block from which you can make a T-slot nut. The A2Z
CNC quick change tool post sets come with mounting hardware for a particular application.
Thus the Hobby and Phase II Micro quick change tool post sets each have one part
number while the A2Z CNC quick change tool post sets have a different part number
for each application. The Economy quick change tool post set fits the 7x10, 7x12
and 7x14 mini lathes only. The AXA quick change tool post set usually requires that
you do some machining to mount it.
The 0XA Series 000 quick change tool post sets are differentiated only by the
tool holders; the tool posts are identical. The tool holders in the Tormach QCTP
set (PN 3112)
are designed specifically to work on the mini lathe. They only require 5/8" from
the top of the compound rest to the centerline of the lathe. The
3048 QCTP
set requires 3/4" from the top of the compound to the centerline of the lathe. This
QCTP is a good fit for 8 and 9" lathes.
