Save by buying all three as a set! Indexing is the process of turning a work piece a certain part of a circle between milling operations. A simple indexing operation is milling the flats on the head of a bolt. A more complex indexing operation is cutting gear teeth. On mini mills, most indexing is done using a rotary table. The addition of dividing plates makes indexing easier. When working with relatively long work pieces, a tailstock can be used to support the end of the work piece. In many cases, a lathe chuck is mounted on the rotary table to hold the work piece. The worm gear and center hole are hardened and ground. The 6" rotary table is 3.1" high when horizontal, and 7.8" when vertical. The centerline is 3.9" above the table when in the vertical position. The worm ratio is 90 to 1 and one rotation of the handle equals 4 degrees on the collar. There are three T-slots and each slot is 0.43" in width.
